“Free Trade” was in the news this Memorial Day weekend. President Obama is pushing hard for “fast track” approval of his Trans-Pacific Partnership (“TPP”) Agreement, calling for a simple up or down vote without the possibility of amendments or floor debate.

The New York Times reported that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has forged a “rare alliance” with the president to push the trade legislation. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orin Hatch has been quoted as saying, “it shows that when the president is right, we will support him.” (Never mind that Hatch has also been quoted as saying: “I don’t know fully what’s in TPP myself.”)

Just another BIG step backwards for America and more importantly its people, as at mere face value there are numerous serious and extremely negative consequences to this policy action and content.

Obvious points and concerns -


Exacerbation of the erosion of American jobs, indigenous industrial base and middle class.. With this, erosion of national competitive advantage resulting in increasing national, state and individual security risks. plus deep economic plight.

Continued dilution of democracy, constitutional powers and rights including those embedded in state and local authorities.

Excessive immigration and population leakage , putting increased pressure on social structures, wages, pensions and healthcare system creating more massive debt financing plus extreme social tensions, Then of course there are those fiscal budgets for states and cities.

Increased concentration of power with international oligarchs, banks and related military industrial complex whose goals and objectives are oriented solely towards self-interest; with no concern whatsoever for  enlarging greater national principles of , by, for and with the people.

More erosion and diversion in the physical and conceptual resources needed to resolve imminent key pending issues that could be catastrophic to the country, economy and world-wide survival interests -  including but not limited to ; climate change, resource depletion, degradation of bio-sphere and its diversity, wildlife extinction, toxoplasmosis containment, carbon exponents, ocean acidification and on...

Importation of disease, crime, extreme social and civil unrest from politically. socially ,culturally and economically destabilized regions and countries - who will be attracted to move their  worst or best? These also create great excessive  hidden and future costs for federal, state and local fiscal budgets

All of this, is just for starters off the top - there is just no way in the universe that you could "realistically" dream up positive reasons and rhetoric that creates a subjective benefit that  outweighs the long list of object negative consequences associated with expanding free-trade agreements to the southern hemisphere . THEY ARE ALL LIES!!!  Probably they are based on plans with immediate geopolitical or geoeconomic self-interests in mind. Not the people's long term goals.    

To say the least; in my opinion, the world has changed dramatically over the past fifty years , and such economic free trade policies are not only intellectually deprived  (no clear and valid metric), but they are foolhardy and archaic approaches that place longer-term national and individual security and economic interests in unprecedented jeopardy. 

So sad, and this is just the "very short and prompt story "on this extremely misguided and incoherent legislation

Existence Beyond 2100 Possible?

Do the math and you plainly realize our insanity.

With just 2% population and/or economic growth - every 35 years we double the base figure. In 105 years we would realize "three doubles" or a planet filled then with 58.4 billion humans or economic equivalents thereof - consuming ,depleting degrading and polluting at correlating rates by 2120. Oil consumption or alternative energy equivalents would surpass 700 million barrels a day or 250 billion plus annually. All known reserves today would vanish in about four years.

The current system and civilization is thus mathematically and physically impossible and will transform or collapse in a significant way well before 2100. Avoiding this fate is nearly impossible because the inertia of the system is so great that it would require a yet unimagined counter-force to then create the optimal numbers, usage and structure that could co-exist with the natural constructs for a much longer period.

All this - does not even consider the state of the climate and biosphere that are on perhaps a course with no chance to be reversed by way of counter-forces thereby sealing human fate's certitude. Now think mathematically, about the next 35 years after 2120, when we extrapolate to reach a mind-boggling 116.8 billion folks.

Hegemony or Survival: How's About - Who's Zooming Whom?

Noam Chomsky is right about one thing: "Question Everything"

To start, the global hegemonists are not the American elite per se, but a loosely knitted group around the planet that control various forms of government , theologies, institutions and combinations thereof. They care little for the ideology under which they operate as they are essentially a conceptual power tool(s) used to suppress and control the masses. That's why when the Animal Farm changes its colours, stripes or flag;  nothing really ever changes. Right now, the US is acting as the global police force for this group; not by choice of the American people, but by the shifting historical powers within the elite global hegemony.

What I find both fascinating and disturbing is that Chomsky rarely makes reference to these inter-connected oligarchs or Masters of Earth , but rather sees the hegemony as the US alone. I believe this to be a distraction, or possibly at worst, a deliberate fabrication, as the preponderance of evidence indicates that a "Cyber-Hegemony" exists with little regard for sovereignty, theology, or any other forms of conjured  ideology.

It is an entity onto to its own, empty of any human virtue, concept or loyalty; having only one interest in mind and purpose - "It's Self-Interest". And in this effort through its clever use of various conceptual, physical and communication devices it has fooled  nearly everyone on the planet - perhaps even our good friend from MIT himself .

Imagine that!

So why do I think that Chomsky may possible be part of the " The Big Lie," inadvertently or otherwise? Watch this video, and there is  little indication that he is taking into account the vast number of hard issues being imposed by the planetary resource constraints, climate chaos, imminent financial collapse and overpopulation. There is an attitude of "business as usual," particularly with comments surrounding  "Saudi America" that are shocking and unbelievably misguided, in so many ways.

Even if it were true - So What? When the rest of planet has little or no oil -  do you think that doesn't have implications? For one, there are still thousand of nuclear weapons all over the world. The collective royal "WE" will have a huge problem. Who's zooming whom?

In the end words may only take us so far. And linguistics alone cannot provide the deeper integrated thinking and scientific models needed to overcome the complexities of our species. Care must be taken regarding the professing of celebrities; even those of the academic ilk. For as they too: may at times, step beyond the reach of their field of study. However, this by no means should discount the great value of their wisdom or teachings in the subjects they know so well - IMO.

Ironically, as Noam says, "Question Everything"
